Founded in 1850, Illinois Wesleyan University is a highly competitive small liberal arts institution located in Bloomington, Ill.

The English Department offers a major with concentrations in Literature and Writing. We offer minors in English, Creative Writing, and Journalism and Communication. A significant percentage of our English majors also major in Education Studies. Many of our students study abroad, receive academic credit for internships, pursue independent studies, and conduct honors research. The English Department is committed to increasing the diversity of the campus community.
