- Auburn University at Montgomery, Department of English and Philosophy
The Department of English and Philosophy is an interdisciplinary community of 21 full-time faculty who value and promote the study of literature, rhetoric and composition, professional and technical writing, creative writing, digital humanities, and philosophy. Our course offerings form the foundation of the university’s core curriculum and are integral to the success of all AUM students. We offer an undergraduate major in English as well as three minors: Creative Writing, English Language and Literature, and Philosophy. We also offer an undergraduate certificate in Professional and Technical Writing, with a distinctive focus on community-engaged projects, and a graduate certificate in Teaching Writing. We are actively seeking to expand our initiatives in digital humanities and creative writing. The department regularly engages students in both curricular and co-curricular activities. It has three student groups: the English Club, the Creative Writing Club, and Sigma Tau Delta, The International English Honor Society. Departmental faculty and majors oversee the production of Filibuster, AUM’s student literary and creative arts magazine.
