Job Description

The College of Liberal Arts at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) invites applications for appointment as the Rick & Cathy Trachok Endowed Chair in International Studies at the rank of Professor or Advanced Associate Professor. We seek a scholar in the humanities or social sciences with an international reputation and a strong record of research and teaching. The applicant will have demonstrated expertise in contemporary or historical research of global, world regional, or comparative focus.  Specialization is open, and applicants from any discipline represented in UNR’s College of Liberal Arts may apply, but priority will be given to candidates in the fields of Anthropology, English, History, and Political Science. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses and will play a leadership role in UNR’s Ozmen Institute for Global Studies.

 

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. degree and status as an advanced associate or full professor;

Demonstrated expertise and significant experience in some aspect of international studies;

A record of publishing in top-tier journals and presses;

A strong, ongoing program of research;

Research proficiency in one or more languages in addition to English;

Demonstrated excellence in teaching

 

Preferred Qualifications

Evidence of or potential for strong external grant activity

Evidence of attention to diversity, equity and inclusion in research, teaching and/or service
