Assistant Professor of Spanish

The Department of Foreign Languages at Coe College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Spanish with a focus on one or more of the following areas: LatinX/Border Studies, Mexican literary/cultural studies, Central American literary/cultural studies. The appointment begins in Fall 2020.

Primary responsibilities of this position include teaching a variety of introductory and upper-level courses with a course load of 3:3 with class sizes ranging from 10 to 20 students. The successful candidate will embrace Coe’s student-centered approach to education. Qualifications:

  • We expect applicants to have at least near-native proficiency in Spanish, a Ph.D. in Spanish or a related field completed upon commencement of the position, and experience teaching college-level Spanish.

  • The candidate must be prepared to teach Spanish at all levels, including elementary and intermediate language.

  • We prefer candidates with an ability to teach Spanish for heritage speakers and Spanish for the professions.

  • Successful completion of a criminal background check in accordance with Coe College policy.
