Executive Director - Digital Studies

The University of Michigan’s Digital Studies Institute (UMDSI) seeks a founding Executive Director to shape an innovative new organization, contributing towards our understanding of the digital world.  Serving students, researchers, and the public, the Executive Director will provide programmatic leadership for the Digital Studies Institute, and will partner with the Faculty Director, Associate Director and Chief Administrator to assure that UMDSI creates an inclusive and generative space.  The Executive Director will also have primary responsibility for assuring that UMDSI programs are complementary and in partnership with other University units involved in digital work. This is a 3 year term limited position.

This position requires: an advanced degree or equivalent, understanding of the academic environment and its resources, ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy with a broad spectrum of students, faculty, administrative staff, policy makers, and public constituents/stakeholders;  demonstrated leadership experience with recruiting, mentoring, career development, and team building; experience in project management, programming, budget management, program development and assessment; an entrepreneurial stance towards development.
