Erikson Scholar in Residence

Erikson Institute for Education and Research of the Austen Riggs Center in Stockbridge, MA invites applications for the fall 2020 Erikson Scholar-in-Residence. The Erikson Institute bridges the clinical work of the Austen Riggs Center, which treats patients with complex psychiatric disorders, and the wider academic and professional communities. Erikson Scholars engage in interdisciplinary work that spans a broad range of psychiatric, social, cultural and theoretical issues.

Scholars become part of the clinical and intellectual life of the Center through work on a proposed project, and presentations to practitioners and scholars in the community. Applications from the fields of medicine, psychiatry, genomics, psychoanalysis, neuroscience, anthropology, history, law, literary criticism, political science, sociology and other disciplines in the arts and sciences are welcome. The term is for 3.5 months in either the fall or spring semester and includes housing, a stipend, administrative support, and access to the Center’s library.

Applicants should submit a proposal for a project that includes a statement about how the project will benefit from interactions with clinicians or exposure to the Center’s clinical work. To apply, please send a cover letter, proposed project description, curriculum vitae, two letters of recommendation, and any recent relevant publications to Jeremy Ridenour, PsyD, Chair of the Erikson Scholar Search Committee.
