The Berea College Department of Foreign Languages invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor position in Spanish beginning in August 2021.  The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Spanish and a native or near-native command of Spanish, as well as a native or near-native command of English, with a successful record of teaching undergraduates. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduates at all levels (courses may include the introductory Spanish language sequence, writing, translation and literature courses, Spanish linguistics/History of Spanish language and phonetics, Spanish for heritage speakers, Spanish for professional proficiency [nursing, social work, etc.]; advising Spanish majors and minors; and contributing service to the department and to the college. Willingness to participate in the General Education program is also expected. The ideal candidate will display professionalism when interacting with members of the Berea College community and will demonstrate a commitment to carrying out the mission of Berea College. Successful candidates will, through their teaching, scholarship or service, demonstrate a commitment to building a diverse community.
