Three-Year Visiting Assistant Professorship 20th-Century African American Literature

The Departments of American Studies (AMST) and African American and African Diaspora Studies (AAADS) at Indiana University–Bloomington invite applications for a three-year visiting assistant professor (VAP) specializing in 20th-Century African American literature. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in American Studies or African American Studies. This is a 50–50 joint appointment between the two departments.

The successful applicant will be expected to teach two courses per term on the semester system. IU offers a competitive salary and benefits, as well as research funding and a subvention for moving costs.  The appointment is scheduled to begin August 1, 2021.
