Postdoctoral Research Fellow in International Humanities

Position Description:

The Department of Hispanic Studies, the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, and the Department of American Studies and Ethnic Studies jointly invite applications for an International Humanities Fellowship offered by the Cogut Institute for the Humanities at Brown University for a term of two years beginning July 1, 2021.

 

We seek applicants who put the study of race and ethnicity in Hispanophone cultural production (literature, film, etc.) at the center of their research. Candidates may work on any time period from the Middle Ages to the present and on territories including the Iberian peninsula, the Americas, the Caribbean, the Philippines, and Africa.

 

Candidates must demonstrate excellence in scholarship and teaching, fluency in both Spanish and English, and a commitment towards building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment. The successful candidate will have an office in the Department of Hispanic Studies. Cogut Fellows participate in the activities of the Cogut Institute, including a weekly fellows’ seminar, and teach two courses each year. A salary of $61,500 is offered, with an increase to $63,907 the second year, plus benefits and a reimbursable research budget of $2,000 per year.

 

Qualifications:

The PhD must be in hand by July 1, 2021 and must have been awarded in the last five years.
