Professor of Instruction of English and Writing

The Department of English and Writing within the College of Arts and Letters at the University of Tampa is pleased to invite applications for two term (renewable contract) positions as Professor of Instruction of English and Writing to begin in August 2020.

Our vibrant and growing Academic Writing (AWR) Program welcomes applicants with experience and enthusiasm for teaching academic writing to students with diverse and international backgrounds. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated teacher with demonstrable commitment to Academic Writing and writing pedagogy. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in Accelerated Learning Programs or studio courses, programmatic assessment, or student placement. The teaching load will be 28 credit hours per year in AWR, typically consisting of seven four-hour courses. In addition to teaching duties, successful candidates will contribute to the Academic Writing Program by participating in curricular initiatives, taking part in committee work, and developing collegial exchanges with peers.

 

The successful candidate will have a PhD in English or related field; college- or university-level experience teaching Academic Writing; and demonstrated scholarly/professional activity. Applicants should be prepared to attach a cover letter detailing teaching experience and scholarly interests, a current curriculum vita, a scholarly writing sample, a one-page teaching philosophy for Academic Writing, and a copy of graduate transcripts. In addition, applicants will be requested to enter names and email addresses for three (3) reference providers who can address the candidate’s teaching experience and scholarship.
