Endowed Chair in English Literacy/Full or Associate Professor

The Department of English at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville seeks to appoint a Full or Associate Professor as the endowed Brown Chair in English Literacy. This position entails furthering the Brown Chair’s mission to improve literacies throughout the state of Arkansas and beyond by forging durable partnerships with a variety of stakeholders (e.g., practitioners in community agencies and nonprofit organizations, public-school teachers and administrators, and government officials). As an active member of the English Department, the Brown Chair will also teach two courses per year, direct dissertations and theses, and join the department in fostering a campus culture of writing. The ideal candidate will have a distinguished record of publication, a demonstrated engagement with community literacy, and extensive teaching experience at the graduate level. The ability to collaborate with a diverse faculty and staff is essential. The position starts July 1, 2020, and is a 12-month appointment.
