Foreign Language Tenure-Track Faculty

The Foreign Languages Department at Covenant College, an agency of the Presbyterian Church in America and an academically rigorous Christian college emphasizing the liberal arts in the Reformed and Presbyterian tradition, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position beginning July 1, 2021. 

The candidate who fills this position will be an excellent teacher, will be dedicated to developing further as a Christian scholar, and will be enthusiastic about active participation in the college and larger community.  The individual will be expected to teach a wide range of courses at the undergraduate level in supporting the French and/or Spanish and/or German Studies major(s) and program(s), including the general education requirement for language.  Preference will be given to candidates who can offer courses in two languages (French and Spanish; French and German; Spanish and German; French and Arabic; or Spanish and Arabic) to support current programs and core requirements or to initiate new programs or core options.  Candidates who teach only French or only Spanish will also be considered for the position.   

A doctoral degree in French, Spanish, or German from a regionally accredited institution is required, with a minimum of a master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in a second language. Candidates with only a master’s degree but who are interested in a terminal degree will be considered. The Foreign Languages Department offers majors in French, Spanish, and German Studies and cooperates closely with the history and politics department in offering an International Studies major, as well as providing courses to satisfy the general education requirements of the college.  Rank and compensation will be commensurate with experience.
