Assistant Professor of Spanish (tenure-track)

The Department of Modern Languages and Cultures at Virginia Military Institute invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Spanish beginning 1 August 2020.

Ph.D. in Spanish/Hispanic Studies is required, with specialization open. The successful candidate will teach 6 courses in language, literature and culture per year and participate in academic advising, committee work, scholarship, and mentoring of undergraduate research. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English required.

VMI is a public, four–year, undergraduate military college of approximately 1,700 students, about half of whom accept commissions in the armed forces upon graduation.  Teaching excellence in a liberal arts setting is our first priority.  Faculty members who are United States citizens wear uniforms and adhere to military customs, but military experience among the faculty is neither required nor expected.  For more information about VMI and the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures, please visit our web site at http://www.vmi.edu .
