Wheaton is a private, coeducational, liberal arts college of 1800 students located in Norton, MA and within easy commuting distance of Boston and Providence. Wheaton has been operating under a remote hybrid teaching model in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. It is our hope to return to an in-person teaching model for the fall of 2021. While this position may be temporarily remote, there is an expectation that the teaching will be on campus when the college determines it is safe to return to in-person operations. The normal teaching load is 2/3. Members of the English department teach college writing and occasionally teach the college’s First-Year Experience seminar. A reduction in course load normally occurs in the first year to help establish professional development.

For full consideration, the following are to be submitted via Wheaton’s online application system: letter of application, curriculum vitae, teaching philosophy, writing sample, a copy of selected publications, and contact information for three references. Please note that references will not be contacted upon application; confidential letters of reference will be collected at a later stage of the hiring process and applicants will be alerted ahead of time. A review of applications will begin April 2, 2021 and the position will remain open until filled.

A PhD in English or a closely related field and undergraduate teaching experience are required. Candidates close to completion of their degrees may be considered, but PhD must be in hand by July 2021.
