German Lecturer

The University of Virginia’s Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures invites applications for a Lecturer of German on the academic general faculty expected to begin August 25, 2021. We are particularly interested in candidates who can teach courses in German Language and, possibly, Literature. The core responsibilities of this position include teaching six courses per year, three each during the spring and fall terms.

This is a one-year, tenure-ineligible appointment with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon available funding, satisfactory performance, and need for the position.

A completed MA in German at the time of the appointment is required, as are a strong commitment to teaching and native or near-native fluency in German. Candidates with academic experience in Germany or Austria (as faculty or students) are preferred.
