Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of English – Creative Writing (Poetry)

The Creative Writing Program in the Department of English at Carnegie Mellon University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor with a specialization in Creative Writing (Poetry), to begin Fall 2022. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong track record of publication as well as the ability to teach a variety of courses in poetry at the undergraduate level, including an introduction to poetic form and technique, beginning and advanced poetry workshops, and readings in poetry. The successful candidate will be engaged in helping to sustain, and to continue to develop, a top-ranked writing program. We thus seek a candidate with experience working in diverse undergraduate communities with a commitment to adaptive and inclusive teaching strategies. We are especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching, and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community. The qualified applicant will have a terminal degree in Creative Writing (MFA or PhD), and a substantial publication record, including at least one collection of poetry, as well as demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level. Nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position. The teaching load is 2/2.
