Assistant Professor of Latinx Studies

The Department of Romance Languages & Literatures (RLL) at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Latinx Studies to begin in fall semester 2022. We seek an exceptional scholar whose transdisciplinary research and teaching focus on Latinx cultures in the United States. Responsibilities include conducting and publishing scholarly research; developing and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses; advising and mentoring a diverse student body; and other duties assigned by the University. The teaching load is two courses per semester. Requires completion of a PhD with a research focus in Latinx Studies no later than June 30, 2022. The successful candidate will be expected to teach and conduct scholarly work in both Spanish and English.

RLL is a vibrant community of scholars whose research and teaching are at the forefront of advancing the humanities at the University. RLL colleagues collaborate with interdisciplinary programs such as the Latin American Studies Program, Global Studies, and American Culture Studies as well as departments and research centers across Arts & Sciences and the University to carry out innovative research as well as design next-generation learning experiences. This new position aligns with Washington University’s commitment to build a world-class research program on race and ethnicity. Moreover, we anticipate the successful candidate will forge connections across departments and units as well as other dynamic initiatives at the university.
