Assistant Professor of Instruction in Chinese language

NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY and the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures invite applications for two full-time benefits-eligible, non-tenure track, full-time Assistant Professors of Instruction in Chinese language to begin September 1, 2022.  The successful candidates will work with existing faculty members in the Chinese Language Program and must be able to teach the novice to advanced Chinese language courses for both heritage and non-heritage language learners. Duties include a six-course teaching load (typically two per quarter) at all levels for heritage and non-heritage learners.  Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in foreign language pedagogy, second language education, Chinese language/linguistics, applied linguistics, or other related fields, teaching experience in U.S. higher education, native or near-native proficiency in both Chinese and English.
