Job Description:

The Department of English and Comparative Literature (ECLT) seeks a full-time appointment in American literature (open rank) beginning Spring 2022. This is a fixed-term position for four years. Possible fields of interest include, but are not limited to: African American literature, Arab American literature, Multiethnic American literature, American studies, Hemispheric studies, and Transnationalism. The successful candidate is expected to teach humanities courses in the AUC core curriculum, introduction to American studies courses, and both halves of a two-semester survey of American literature; actively engage in research and the Center for American Studies and Research; supervise M.A. theses and serve on committees; and provide department and university service. The teaching load is normally nine credits per semester, including courses in the M.A. program.

 

Requirements:

Applicants must have a PhD in English, American Studies, Comparative Literature, or a related discipline by the time of appointment, preferably with a record of an active research agenda and teaching experience.
