Senior Associate Director, Willson Center for Humanities and Arts, University of Georgia

The University of Georgia (UGA) is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as the Senior Associate Director in the Office of Research’s Willson Center. The Senior Associate Director of the Willson Center (WC) manages the operations, processes and development of a university wide community of researchers and practitioners whose work has regional, national, and international impact. S/He is responsible for oversight of the budget of the WC and of the systems that manage its grant and public programs, internal and external.     

The Senior Associate Director is a critical, and visible, part of the WC team, and takes a key role in advising the director on opportunities and challenges that face the center and its constituents. They have experience in building, framing, communicating and maintaining the publicly engaged humanities and arts in diverse contexts that are competitive for external funding.

The Senior Associate Director has the capacity to represent the WC in the university, the community, and at national and international meetings of peer centers and institutes. They are an excellent communicator, and keep regular contact with units across the university and state.  

The Senior Associate Director is a collaborative leader who can bring ideas to collective reality, is open-minded, curious across the spectrum of humanities and arts activity, and committed to continual learning and reflection. 

The Senior Associate Director will have

- Record of interest and involvement in research leadership in the humanities and arts. 

- Understanding of the research and collaborative opportunities generated in a large public research university.

- Enthusiasm for, and training in, publicly engaged research and creativity.

- Ability to manage, advise and evolve a diverse set of priorities and programs across the humanities and arts. 

- Ability to understand, manage and plan budgets.

- Excellent communication skills.

- Commitment to respectful collaboration.

This position involves a high level of leadership, communication, and collaborative skills.  Candidates with a record of publicly engaged humanities and arts research and creativity encouraged.
