The Department of English invites applications for an Assistant Professorship in Creative Writing.

Applicants should have (i) a PhD in Creative Writing, English Literary Studies, English Linguistics, or a related field; (ii) a strong research, teaching, and creative background in one or more of the following areas: digital creative writing, game writing, writing for the stage, writing for the screen, song writing, or other creative genres; (iii) a track record of scholarly research publications and/or creative works as well as potential for research grant writing; (iv) a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship; and (v) interest in and/or experience with impactful community outreach related to specified areas of research.

The appointee will (a) develop and teach courses at postgraduate and undergraduate levels; (b) supervise postgraduate students; (c) bid for external competitive grants; and (d) assist in administrative matters.

Appointment will normally be made on contract basis for up to 3 years initially commencing August 2022, which, subject to performance and mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later.
