Assistant Professor - Global Cinema

Clemson University's English Department seeks an outstanding scholar and teacher at the assistant professor rank with a specialization in Global Cinema. The department is especially interested in candidates with research and teaching expertise in Middle Eastern and North African cinema and culture. We also welcome applicants whose work will complement our department's strengths in critical race studies, global literature, and material culture. The successful candidate will collaborate with current faculty to enhance well-established curricular and institutional programs, including robust English and World Cinema majors at the BA level, MA programs in Writing, Rhetoric, and Media (MAWRM) and English (MAE), as well as an interdisciplinary PhD in Rhetorics, Communication, and Information Design (RCID).

Clemson is an R-I land grant institution located in upstate South Carolina—a global university with a mission to serve the diverse communities of our state. In 2016 Clemson inaugurated Clemson Forward, a strategic plan to strengthen its research profile, diversity, and workplace quality of life. The English Department has taken a leading role in pursuing these goals by confronting legacies of political violence. For this reason, the search committee is especially interested to hear from candidates who bring the diverse perspectives that come from non-traditional educational backgrounds or an understanding of the experience of those under-represented in higher education.
