Associate Professor of African American and/or African Diasporic Literature

The Department of English at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications to fill a tenured associate professorship in African American and/or African Diasporic Literature and Culture of the nineteenth and/or twentieth centuries, pending budgetary approval.

The successful candidate will begin in the fall term of 2020. We welcome applicants with specializations in such areas as Caribbean literature, Afro-Latino literature, the Black Atlantic, Global South studies, critical race theory, queer & gender studies, poetics, drama & performance, visual culture, film & media studies, children’s literature, ecocriticism, science studies, and digital humanities. The candidate will also help to develop the department’s Race, Poetics, Empire graduate focal area and could be affiliated with the Center for African American Poetry and Poetics.  Normal teaching load is 2/2.
