Assistant Professor, Department fo Modern Languages and LIteratures (Spanish)

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Saint Anselm College, a Roman Catholic undergraduate liberal arts college in the Benedictine tradition in Manchester, NH, invites applications for a one–to–three–year term faculty position in Spanish for Professions and Spanish Translation/Interpretation to begin August 2020.  We seek a dynamic teacher/translator/interpreter who will complement the expertise of our faculty and expand our current curriculum to incorporate broader global and inclusive perspectives, as well as community engagement. 

The successful candidate will teach a 3-3 load, including sharing the responsibilities of teaching the Spanish language sequence (Spanish I, II, III and IV), and Spanish for Nurses, Business Spanish, Spanish for Criminal Justice and/or Spanish Translation/Interpretation.  Applications from candidates who have had experience in the professional world of translation/interpretation, service learning and Spanish for professions are especially welcome.  The candidate could potentially assist with the coordination of the Spanish sequence- Spanish I, II, III and IV, assist with the training and evaluation of conversation facilitators and support cultural activities that promote Spanish on campus and in the community.

Required Skills: PhD in Spanish preferred. ABD and Masters considered. (Degree in hand by September 2020). Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching in a liberal arts environment at the undergraduate level, as well as scholarly research.   

Required Experience: At least one year of college-level teaching (instructor of record) and certification in interpretation is required.
