Assistant Professor - Modern Iberia

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese seeks to fill a full-time, tenure-track position, beginning August 2020, to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in modern Iberian literature and culture. The teaching load is 2 courses per semester. Specialization is in literary and cultural manifestations of modernity in the Iberian Peninsula, circa 1700-1900. While the position concentrates on this period, candidates with a broader chronological and interdisciplinary scope are encouraged to apply. 

PhD in the field required by August 15, 2020. Candidates should have native or near-native command of Spanish and English, a strong research agenda and commitment to teaching and liberal arts education. Knowledge of another Peninsular language would be a plus. The Department is especially interested in candidates whose research is theoretically driven and demonstrates an innovative approach to the study of literature and culture.
