Assistant Professor of French

The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at Auburn University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of French position, to begin in August 2020. This position has a 3-2 teaching load and will include instruction of all levels of French language and upper-level courses such as (but not limited to) French business, literature, culture, and French for the professions.

Required qualifications: Applicants for this position must have a PhD in French literature or culture/civilization or related field or be ABD (Ph.D. in hand by start date). Native or near-native fluency in French and English is also required. Applicants must also provide evidence of teaching excellence at the college level in addition to a well-developed plan of research and scholarship. Willingness to direct study abroad programs, to contribute to on-line course development, and to participate in the development of the French program (including extracurricular activities) is expected. Familiarity with current language pedagogy and the ACTFL Guidelines as well as experience in innovative course curricula are highly desirable.

The candidate selected for this position must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
