The Department of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a Teaching Assistant Professor of Spanish, to begin 17 August 2020, to enhance a dynamic program in Spanish. This is a promotable and renewable, teaching-focused position, subject to satisfactory performance, program needs, and available funding.  Ph.D. in Spanish in hand by start of employment is required, as well as native or near-native proficiency in both Spanish and English.  Candidates should have teaching experience and demonstrate clear evidence of promise of excellence in teaching (and secondarily, research and service), with the ability to teach across a wide range of levels, and also the interpersonal skills and collegiality necessary to help maintain a strong Spanish program.

 

Knowledge of and experience in the teaching of courses in translation and interpretation, and in the development of T & I curriculum, strongly preferred.  Training and experience in Spanish for special purposes and service-learning development also a plus. Successful applicant will be expected to teach in one or more of these areas and to participate actively in program development and in the extra-curricular activities organized by the Spanish section and allied programs.
