Lecturer in French

The Department of World Languages & Cultures at Georgia State University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track, Lecturer position in French. The position is defined broadly within French for business, diversity in the professions, or humanitarian studies in the French-speaking world. Native or near-native proficiency in French is required and a M.A. as essential qualification or a Ph.D. as preferred qualification in French or SLA, or related field.

Located in downtown Atlanta, our department provides its world-class faculty and students with unsurpassed connections to the opportunities available in one of the 21st century’s great global cities. We offer students real world opportunities to combine and apply language abilities, cultural knowledge, and career skills.

We welcome candidates with teaching and service experience in areas such as human rights and citizenship, cross-cultural French for business, diaspora and race, outreach, community and NGO organizations. Assignments will consist of 4/4 teaching load. The successful candidate with a M.A. will teach undergraduate courses up to the 4000 level while the successful candidate with a Ph.D will teach undergraduate and graduate courses. Applicants should be strong generalists with the ability to also teach courses for a variety of professional purposes. The successful candidate will coordinate service and experiential-learning opportunities for our students, develop agreements with businesses and partners based in Metro Atlanta and beyond, advise International Economics and Modern Languages (IEML) and Language for Business concentrations, oversee students’ internships with our international partners.
