Assistant Professor in English

The English Department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks applicants for two tenure-track appointments in Literary Studies and Environmental Humanities at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in August 2020. We are looking for scholars with a PhD in English or related discipline and an emphasis in Environmental Humanities. Work should have a focus on the relationship between literature and the environment in any historical period. We are especially interested in candidates with research and teaching expertise in one or more of following areas: poetics, indigenous epistemologies, multi-species justice, earth systems science, critical theory, disability studies, and queer ecologies.

Successful candidates will teach four courses per academic year at the undergraduate and graduate level; conduct research of nationally recognized quality; advise and mentor students; and participate in service activities at the department, university, and professional levels.
