Assistant Professor of instruction in Italian

Northwestern University’s Department of French and Italian invites applications for a renewable teaching track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction in Italian, to begin September 1, 2020. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position with a path to promotion. The initial contract is for two years and requires nine units of teaching over three quarters. The successful candidate will work with existing faculty in Italian and teach primarily at the elementary and intermediate levels. Native or near-native proficiency in Italian and in English and prior experience in teaching Italian as FL/L2 required. PhD or ABD in Italian or in a related field preferred.  A commitment to professional development, research, and/or creative work in language pedagogy, linguistics, Italian studies, or related fields is highly desired.
