Associate/Full Professor, Composition, Rhetoric, and Writing Studies

The University of Connecticut’s Department of English invites applications for a tenured Associate or Full Professor in Composition, Rhetoric, and Writing Studies.

Writing Studies is a growing and vibrant field in UConn’s English Department, one that includes the Aetna Endowed Chair in Writing (https://writing.uconn.edu/); a new curriculum underway in First-Year Writing (https://fyw.uconn.edu/); a robust Writing Center (https://writingcenter.uconn.edu/); strong, statewide connections across writing programs at 5 UConn campuses (Storrs, Avery Point, Hartford, Stamford, Waterbury); a dedicated committee on undergraduate writing instruction; the long-standing Connecticut Writing Project (https://cwp.uconn.edu/); and an expansive Early College Education (ECE) (https://ece.english.uconn.edu/) dual-credit writing network. We have a dynamic Ph.D. program in English, with graduate students involved in writing program administration and research.  The English Department engages with interdisciplinary programs across campus including the Africana Studies Institute, American Studies, the Asian and Asian American Studies Institute, El Instituto, the Human Rights Institute, Judaic Studies, Medieval Studies, and the Women’s Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program, among others.  We are committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable community of scholars and students.

We invite applicants who specialize in any area of Writing Studies.  We are especially interested in those with research activity in digital writing, professional writing, and/or environmental rhetorics. This faculty member will work with undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty to support our writing programs and curriculum. The candidate will participate in a rotation of faculty who assume Directorship of First-Year Writing at the Storrs campus for 3-5 years at a time.
