SLA/Applied Linguist - Assistant Professor

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese (https://www.colorado.edu/spanish/) at The University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in Second Language Acquisition / Applied Linguistics with a focus on Heritage Languages. Candidates should have a strong background in linguistic theory and methods and should exhibit promise and/or evidence of a strong publication record. Preference will be given to candidates whose research has a focus on linguistic characteristics of second and/or heritage language varieties of Spanish. Usage-based approaches are valued.

Requirements: Ph.D. in (Hispanic) Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition/Applied Linguistics or related field in hand at the time of appointment. Native or near-native fluency in both Spanish and English.

Job Description: The position entails a teaching load of 2/2 with undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring responsibilities. Teaching responsibility will also include the creation and development of undergraduate courses in Spanish as a Heritage Language. The successful candidate will produce a strong record of publications and will participate in a variety of service responsibilities as a faculty member. This position will start in August 2020.
