Assistant Professor of English

The English Department at SUNY New Paltz invites applications for a tenure track position with a specialization in Latinx Literature of the United States. Candidates will be expected to develop and teach courses in Latinx Literature, covering the field's historical breadth.  SUNY New Paltz is a competitive regional comprehensive university with a diverse student body, with students coming primarily from New York City, Long Island, and upstate New York. Currently 20% of students at SUNY New Paltz identify as Latinx. 

In addition, candidates will teach general education courses in literature, surveys of American literature, as well as senior- and graduate-level courses in the candidate's specialty. The candidate hired for this position will also hold affiliate status in the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Program at SUNY New Paltz and will teach at least one course per year in that program. The standard teaching load for this position is 18 credits per year. In addition, this person will be expected to develop and carry out a research program sufficient to earn tenure. Ph.D. in English or related field required. ABD candidates with a firm date of completion will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience and a successful record as a scholar.
