Tenure-track Assistant Professor of German

Position Description

The Department of Classical and Modern Languages at the University of Louisville invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of German to begin August 2020.

Required

  • Ph.D. in German. Specialization in Linguistics, Second-Language Pedagogy or Applied Linguistics preferred 
  • Native or near-native fluency in German and English. 
  • Record of active research and publishing
  • Demonstrated excellence in language teaching

Preferred

  • Secondary expertise in contemporary German culture or cinema
  • Experience in German program administration and curriculum development
  • Experience in traditional, online and hybrid teaching environments 
  • Experience in or willingness to direct study abroad programs in German-speaking countries
  • Demonstrated success working with faculty, staff and students from diverse backgrounds

The successful candidate will engage in scholarly activity, develop and teach a wide variety of courses covering German language and culture at the undergraduate level and participate in service to the university, the profession and the broader community.
