The Department of English invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor with expertise in any area of sixteenth- and seventeenth-century (early modern / Renaissance) literature. We are especially interested in applicants whose research and teaching interests include: race, globality, gender, class, sexuality, and other emergent subfields examining the relationship between culture, identity, and embodiment. The position entails teaching two courses per semester; one graduate and three undergraduate courses are taught in a typical year. The appointment will begin on July 1, 2020; the Ph.D. is expected by that date.
Applicants should submit the following materials: a cover letter, a two-page dissertation or book abstract, a curriculum vitae, a writing sample (20-25 pages), and three confidential letters of recommendation. Review of applications will begin October 17, 2019, and continue until the position is filled. Preliminary interviews will be conducted by Skype.
