Assistant Professor of 19th Century British Literature

The Department of English and Theatre invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment starting as an Assistant Professor of 19th Century British Literature, which will begin in August 2020. Academic specialty should  be in 19th Century British Literature in the Romantic or Victorian periods. The successful candidate should possess a clearly defined research agenda; evidence of excellence in and enthusiasm for undergraduate teaching; as well as the ability to work across departmental lines. Essential duties include Teaching, Scholarship and Research that will complement our existing offerings. Additional responsibilities include to demonstrated capacity to teach some of the following: literature of Social Conscience, Eco-poetics, Digital Humanities, Public Humanities,and Children's Literature. Must have a Ph.D. by August 2020. The teaching load is 4/3 but virtually all faculty receive research reassigned time with the result that the load is typically 3/3.
