Tenure Track Assistant Professor, English and Media Studies - Bentley University

SUMMARY:

The Department of English and Media Studies at Bentley University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in US-based critical race and ethnic studies. The ideal candidate will be able to teach courses in literature, rhetoric and composition, film, communication, and/or media studies. We are particularly interested in scholars with research and teaching interests in African American, Latinx, and/or Asian American studies, and scholars working in comparative ethnic studies and/or transnational American studies.

Bentley is committed to a balanced profile of scholarship and teaching. We seek a candidate with a clear program of research demonstrated by a record of publication; early career scholars must demonstrate the potential for future publication. Candidates should have experience as the instructor of record for an entry and upper level course in their discipline and demonstrated ability to teach courses in the areas listed above. The new hire will be able to teaching existing courses in the department and develop new courses in their area of specialization.

The teaching load is three courses per semester, with one course release each semester for scholarly productivity, which would bring the load to a 2/2 . Salary and benefits are competitive. Bentley's campus is located in a Boston suburb.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Ethnic Studies, African American Studies, Black Studies, English, Asian American Studies, Latinx Studies, Cinema Studies, Media Studies, Communication, or related field. Advanced ABD applicants will be considered, but must have degree in hand by July 1, 2020.
