Assistant Professor of German
The Department of German Studies at Kalamazoo College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin in September 2020. We seek well-rounded candidates with an active research agenda. Candidates are expected to have high aptitude and interest in undergraduate teaching, and must have evidence of successful teaching and/or advising in a liberal arts setting. The successful candidate will teach six courses per year (2-2-2) at all levels of German language and culture. They will also contribute to the College’s interdisciplinary Shared Passages core curriculum. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach a broad range of innovative content-based courses covering language, literature, visual media and cultures throughout German-speaking countries. A Ph.D. in German is required at the time of application. Native or near-native proficiency in German and English is required.

Candidates should submit the following items electronically below: a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching statement, statement on experience working with underrepresented students and engaging issues of diversity and inclusion, a description of scholarly interest, graduate transcripts (unofficial acceptable), and two sample syllabi (one for intermediate German, one in English for a core curriculum class).
