Tenure Track Faculty Position in Early Modern Iberian Literature and Cultures

Haverford College invites applications for a tenure track position in the Department of Spanish at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August, 2020. The successful candidate will be a scholar in Early Modern Iberian literatures and cultures whose interests lie in the intersectional components of Early Modern Iberian cultures in Mediterranean and/or trans-Atlantic contexts. Research areas should also speak to recent developments in either Mediterranean Studies, or Hispano-Arabic Studies, or Judeo-Spanish Culture and History. Scholarly and teaching strengths should include one or more of the following areas: cultural history, gender, sexuality, race, material culture and visual studies. In addition to maintaining an active and productive research agenda, the successful candidate will be expected to teach at all levels of the Spanish curriculum to students of diverse backgrounds. 

A Ph.D. in Spanish, Comparative Literature, or a related field by the time of the appointment, and native or near-native command of Spanish and English are required.  Applicants should submit the following via Interfolio [http://apply.interfolio.com/67332]:  1) a cover letter; 2) curriculum vitae; 3) a (two-three page) teaching statement that highlights teaching philosophy and experience; 4) a (three-five page) research statement describing scholarly work and future research projects; 5) a (two-three page) statement on inclusion and diversity describing experience with strategies to create inclusive learning environments; 6) a writing sample; and 7) three confidential letters of recommendation.
