Assistant Professor of Arabic

Grinnell College.  The Department of French and Arabic at Grinnell College invites applications for a two-year term appointment in Arabic language, literature, and culture, beginning Fall 2021. Ph.D. in Arabic or a related field preferred; Instructor (ABD) possible. Native or near-native fluency of Arabic and English is required.  The teaching load is five courses per year.  Candidates should be able to teach at all levels of the Arabic language program, including Introductory and Intermediate Arabic courses, as well as courses taught in English. Research and teaching interests are open but we are especially interested in candidates whose work engages with Arabic film, popular culture, and literature. The successful candidate must be capable of offering engaging courses that meet the students’ curiosity about the multiplicity of cultures in the contemporary Middle East.
