Assistant or Associate Professor - Rhetoric and Composition

The Department of English at West Virginia University seeks an advanced assistant professor or an associate professor in rhetoric and composition to serve as the department’s Undergraduate Writing Coordinator starting August 2021. We have established writing programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and we seek candidates eager to help us expand our programs. This position will coordinate WVU’s required English courses (first-year composition and a course in research and argument). The coordinator works in collaboration with other full-time faculty members and with the support of graduate assistants. The coordinator is responsible for the undergraduate writing curriculum and the professional development of new instructors in an August workshop. In addition to running the workshop, the teaching load is 1-1.

The position requires a doctorate degree in English, Composition, Rhetoric, or a related field and a strong research agenda. Other requirements include substantial experience teaching writing at the college level; demonstrated teaching excellence; familiarity with online teaching technologies; familiarity with inclusive pedagogy practices; familiarity with writing program administration; and excellent written and oral communication skills.
