The Department of English seeks candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of English with a specialty in Rhetoric/Composition beginning August 16, 2021. The teaching workload is 3/3 with an additional 3 hours of reassigned research time. The department seeks candidates with evidence of research activity in the field of Rhetoric and Composition. Teaching assignments will include first-year writing courses, a pedagogy seminar for graduate teaching assistants, a course in composition theory and pedagogy, and courses in rhetoric and/or other undergraduate and graduate courses in a specialty area. This position will ultimately include writing program administration with additional reassigned time. The Department of English offers undergraduate and Master’s degrees in English as well as graduate certificates in TESOL, Technical Communication, and Advanced Writing. The department encourages collaboration with other departments and programs, including the Office of Latino/Latin American Studies, Women’s and Gender Studies, Black Studies, Native American Studies, the Center for Human Rights, and the Service Learning Academy.

Successful candidates need a PhD with a specialty in Rhetoric and Composition by August 16, 2021, demonstrated success in teaching undergraduate writing courses, evidence of research activity in the field of Rhetoric and Composition, and demonstrated potential for writing program administration.
