Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure) Faculty
The Department of Liberal Studies at Texas A&M University at Galveston invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track position with a 9-month academic appointment beginning September 1, 2021. Applicants will be considered for the faculty title of Instructional Assistant Professor. Successful candidates are expected to teach core curriculum courses including Composition and Rhetoric and Technical and Business Writing. Teaching responsibility is four sections each semester (12 credit hours).
We seek candidates with demonstrated expertise in Composition and Rhetoric and Technical and Business Writing. In addition to teaching core curriculum courses, successful candidates support campus engagement and student success as the faculty lead for the department’s Common Reader Program. We are especially interested in qualified candidates whose teaching and campus engagement supports diversity, equity, and inclusion at Texas A&M University at Galveston.
Texas A&M at Galveston is an ocean-oriented branch campus of Texas A&M University which educates nearly 2,300 undergraduate and graduate students in a unique blend of marine and maritime programs including majors in science, business, engineering, liberal arts, and transportation. It is the primary component that fulfills the sea-grant portion of the Texas A&M’s land-sea-space-grant mission and has nearly $10 million annually in research expenditures. Texas A&M at Galveston is also home to the Texas A&M Maritime Academy one of seven in the U.S. and the only academy integrated into a Tier 1 academic institution which trains over 300 cadets annually for maritime service and employment around the world. Located on the Texas Gulf Coast, Texas A&M at Galveston is surrounded by the industry, environment and programs essential to fulfilling its special-purpose mission.
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in English or related field; graduate coursework in composition pedagogy; experience teaching college-level composition; and experience teaching with technology.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in writing across the curriculum; college-level teaching experience; and evidence of teaching excellence and professional development.
