Overview
The Department of English at Utah State University seeks applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor in the field of African American and/or African Diasporic Literature. Preferred areas of interest include Black literatures of the long nineteenth century, poetry, and Gender and Sexuality Studies. This is an academic-year (9-month) research-intensive position with a teaching load of two courses per semester (2/2). The position will begin in August 2021.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will teach literature courses in their field(s) at different levels of the curriculum: general education, undergraduate majors, and/or graduate courses. These courses will be based on the Logan campus, in Northern Utah's scenic Cache Valley.

Qualifications
Applicants are required to earn their Ph.D. in English, Comparative Literature, or a related field (including interdisciplinary programs), with a strong preference for candidates who will have their Ph.D. in hand by the starting date.
The successful applicant will have a proven record of both research excellence and strong teaching.
