The English Department at TCNJ seeks applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Literature and the Environment. Applicants must have a dissertation and scholarship that focuses on literature and the environment, eco-criticism, and/or the environmental humanities. Although applicants may specialize in any historical or cultural field of Anglophone literature, we are particularly interested in scholars with a secondary specialization in one or more of the following: digital humanities, 19th-century British and/or Modernist literature, or the intersections of environmental studies and race. The successful candidate will teach six undergraduate courses per academic year (with possible course releases for active scholars); conduct research of nationally recognized quality; advise and mentor students; and participate in service activities at the department, school, and college levels. Graduate teaching in our M.A. program is also available on an occasional basis, as is involvement with TCNJ's growing Environmental Studies Minor.

The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in English or a closely related field by August, 2021. Review of applications will begin on November 6th, with preference given to applications received by this date.

About TCNJ: 

The English department at TCNJ has 19 full-time faculty members and serves approximately 500 majors. We offer degrees in English Liberal Arts and English Secondary Education, and are a strong partner with the School of Education providing dual degrees to a number of programs, including Urban Education, Elementary Education, Special Education, and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. We also offer minors in Creative Writing and English as well as participate in interdisciplinary minors in Linguistics, US Studies, and Social Justice. The English Department additionally houses an MA program that serves both recent graduates and students across the state.
