The Department of Modern Languages at Florida International University in Miami, Florida, invites applications for an Assistant/Associate or Professor in the Spanish Program. (A Ph.D. in Spanish is required and must be in-hand by August 12, 2021). The candidate must have a strong record of research and scholarly publication in the area of Hispanic literary and cultural studies; evidence of excellence in teaching; and a willingness to teach Spanish language classes at all levels. The candidate should have near-native or native proficiency in Spanish. Experience directing dissertations and demonstrated leadership skills are a plus. 
We are seeking candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas and fields of research: Early Modern (Golden Age, Medieval and/or Colonial, with possible interests in Judaic/Islamic studies), Transatlantic and Global Studies, or Narratives and Performance of Identity and Citizenship. 
Additional pluses are having broad research interests as well as interest in innovative approaches (such as digital/public humanities) and community engagement with (Afro)Latinx, (Afro)Caribbean, and/or other cultures.
