Assistant Professor - Asian American and Pacific Islander Literature


The Department of English is seeking a candidate for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position specializing in Asian American and Pacific Islander literature. We are interested in a scholar whose work cuts across a wide range of critical theory and cultural practice, moves beyond national and linguistic boundaries, and focuses on print, digital, and/or expressive cultures emerging from the transpacific experience. Joining an intellectual community committed to the idea of the humanities as an agent for change, the ideal candidate would be able to teach a range of courses in our English Department (see https://www.english.ucsb.edu/ ), further enhancing our strength in ethnic and BIPOC literatures. Position begins July 1, 2021.

Applicants are expected to have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. in English (or a commensurate field) except the dissertation (or equivalent) at the time of application. Shortlisted candidates may be asked by the search committee for available parts of the dissertation, which should be completed at time of appointment. Additionally, Ph.D. dissertation in English (or a commensurate and appropriate field) should be completed at time of appointment. It is preferred that Some teaching experience at the university level as evidenced in the CV.
