Instructor-Spanish

The department offers a BA in Foreign Languages with concentrations in Classics, French, German, and Spanish; an International Business Program (a joint BA in Foreign Languages and Business Administration); and, an MA in Foreign Languages, with areas of study in French, German, and Spanish. Other languages offered are Chinese, Italian, Japanese, and Russian; and, the Department has several study abroad program options for students. Faculty have affiliations with the Shackouls Honors College, the Humanities Institute, the Cobb Institute and Gender Studies. The department has 15 tenured and tenure-track faculty, as well as dedicated cohorts of instructors and lecturers. Mississippi State University is a Carnegie doctoral/research extensive institution and is among the top 100 research institutions in the nation. Mississippi State University has an array of centers and institutes receptive to collaborative research.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Instruction across sections of Spanish I -IV with a 3/4 full-time teaching load.
Summer teaching is often available, but not guaranteed.
Coordinate Spanish I-IV and work with graduate assistants.
Participate in curriculum development. Service duties to the department include organization and promotion of Spanish cultural activities, the direction of language clubs, and participation on departmental committees.
Serve as one of the department's undergraduate advisors.
Participate in faculty meetings.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

M.A. in Spanish from an accredited institution and native or near-native Spanish fluency.

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD and two years teaching experience at the university level. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
