African American Literature Assistant Professor, Tenure-track

The English Department at Tufts University invites applicants for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor in African American Literature 19th-21st centuries. Evidence of superior scholarship and teaching excellence required. Ph.D. must be awarded by September 1, 2020.

Candidates should have a research focus on African American literature. Preference will be given to candidates with additional expertise in multiethnic U.S. literature, and a further focus on women writers. Candidates should have the ability to teach a broad range of undergraduate courses and graduate seminars. 

The successful candidate will be expected to mentor students writing senior theses and doctoral dissertations.
