Mellon Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Latinx Literatures

The English Department at Williams College invites applications for a two-year Mellon postdoctoral fellowship in Latinx Literatures, beginning July 1, 2020. We welcome applications from candidates who have completed their PhD within the last five years and also those who have not yet completed their PhD, but will have the PhD in hand by the start date of the appointment.

The period, area, and research specialization for the position are open. We especially welcome applications from groups traditionally underrepresented in the academy. Williams is an institution that places a high value on undergraduate teaching; consequently, we strongly prefer applicants who can demonstrate a capacity for excellent teaching and a commitment to working effectively with a student population that is broadly diverse with regard to gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religious views, socio-economic status, and more.

The successful candidate will be appointed full-time for a term of two years and will have a teaching load of one course each semester. As one of the goals of this fellowship is to provide recent PhDs with an introduction to faculty work and life at a liberal arts college, it is expected that the fellow will be present and active on campus in Williamstown. The salary for this position is $55,000 per year. The fellow will also be provided with full benefits including health and dental insurance, plus an allowance of $3,000 per year for research and professional travel. This position is made possible by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Information about the Williams College English Department can be found at: https://english.williams.edu/. Applications should be submitted via interfolio at apply.interfolio.com/80839 and should address how the candidate’s teaching, scholarship, mentorship and/or community service might support Williams’ commitment to diversity and inclusion.
